Hound Racing, Kennels

Friday 2nd July 2010

Looks like humans racing hounds
That’s not what we meant by hound racing

Once again an evening of Hound Racing at Kennels was enjoyed by many. Michael Markey has provided a set of photos for the gallery.

Thanks To All Our Generous Sponsors

Funeral of Vale of Lune Joint-Master Alex Pimbley

Alex smiling at the VLH performance at a joint meet with the Blankey

Joint-Master of the Vale of Lune Harriers, Alex Pimbley, passed away on Friday 4th June after a three month battle with cancer.

A joint-master since 2004 Alex’s enthusiasm for hunting affected the lives of many others, as he encouraged them to share in his passion. Once you had been sufficiently badgered by Alex to take a day out with the Vale he would always be on hand to ensure that you enjoyed yourself and had a grand day out.

It is said that those who die are not truly gone until the ripples they created have died away. Alex touched so many peoples lives and created many, many ripples.

Whittington Races

Whittington, Easter Saturday 2010

Pony Racing
Pony Racing

The threatened cold weather for the weekend fortuitously managed to wait until Sunday, and those who rose early on Saturday were greeted with fine weather, which no doubt contributed to the large crowds.

Ace photographers Michael Markey and John Vine were weilding their cameras for the Whittington Races gallery.

From all the Hayhurst family to our friends at the Vale of Lune who supported us on Saturday and for all their kindness shown since. Special thanks go to Clive, Andrea, Mel, Paul and Debbie, Cleggy, Ian and Jonathan, Becky and of course to John Gilliver and all his team.

January Meet Updates

As we are sure our regular readers and followers will appreciate, the current cold spell and conditions mean that there really is no way we can post a long-term timetable. The Masters would like to reassure you all that an improvement in the weather will bring a full timetable of meets running up to the end of the season to make up for the cancellations due to the weather, including some extra Sunday ambles.

That’s Enough Now

Ironically the new Hunt card is with the printers but the weather has already rendered it out of date.

In the meantime another newsletter is in preparation and will be posted on the website next week.
