if just for a day
As some of you know I’ve been working down south for a year, which explains the absence of coloured horse and man shouting “whoa mare” as he desperately tries not to overtake the Field Master.
Bu last Saturday I was back in the North for the weekend. How I’ve missed a decent supermarket (Booths), water that doesn’t fur up the kettle and tastes proper, the scenery in the Vale, and, most of all, my friends from the Hunt. It was great to turn up to the meet on Saturday and surprise those who were out for Dalton Hall. All the handshakes and hugs were lovely. Hopefully those of you I missed will be at the Hunt Ball next week where we’ll catch up on a years worth of gossip.

Please note the change of venue from the card.

More photos from Michael Markey, this time of the meet at Wennington.
And let’s not forget that although John Vine isn’t sending photos to our webmaster for the hunt gallery he now has his own website – which has a permanent link in our sidebar.

Tim Procter has sent photos from the lawn meet at Dalton Hall. For that (and because our webmaster loves the Hodder Valley almost as much as the Lune Valley) we give a gratuitous plug to Procters Cheeses.
